Villaespesa Library

The Villaespesa Library is located in the city centre. It has a large functional room, exhibitions and events; with a capacity of 180 people. Its origins date back to 1845, when was created the Biblioteca del Instituto Provincial de Segunda Enseñanza of Almeria. In 1947, the Town Hall and the Ministerio de Educacion signed an agreement to create a public library called Francisco Villaespesa, who was a famous modernist poet in Almeria. Today, this library not only has one of the most important newspaper archives of the city, but also celebrates events, courses, exhibitions and meetings related to the education environment and city art.
